The XLS-706 4-pack is a full replacement set for the Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 520 (CCP520). That filter takes four cartridges, and this pack includes all four. It replaces Pentair R173578 and 178585, along with aftermarket Pleatco PCC130, Unicel C-7472 and Filbur FC-1978.

Each cartridge is 7" in diameter and 32 1/16" long with a 3" open end cap top and bottom, and carries 150 sq ft of filter media, 600 sq ft across the 4 cartridges in this pack. Clean & Clear Plus cartridges share that diameter and end cap, so length is the quick check: the 320 uses a 20" cartridge and the 420 a 26 1/16" cartridge. The older Clean & Clear Plus 360 cartridge is also 20" long, so check the part number (R173573 for the 320, R173574 for the 360).

Measuring your old cartridge

  • Length — cap to cap, with both end caps included.
  • Diameter — across the widest point of the pleats, not the end cap.
  • End caps — whether each end is open or closed, and the size of any opening.

A variance of ⅛" is normal. Anything larger usually means a different housing model — check the number printed on your old cartridge against the compatible parts list before ordering.

How do I tell a Clean & Clear Plus 520 cartridge from the 320 or 420?

By length. The 520 cartridge is 32 1/16" long, the 320 is 20" and the 420 is 26 1/16". All three are 7" in diameter with 3" open ends. The older Clean & Clear Plus 360 cartridge is also 20" long, so check the part number (R173573 for the 320, R173574 for the 360).

What are the dimensions of the XLS-706 cartridge?

7" diameter, 32 1/16" long, 150 sq ft of filter media. Both end caps: 3" Open End. Measure your old cartridge before ordering if you are unsure of the part number.
