Excel Filters makes replacement elements for Waterco® Opal and Opal XL cartridge filters: the 90 sq ft element (Waterco 701041), the 180 sq ft element (701038), and the Opal XL C225 element (701040). The Opal XL 270 housing stacks the 90 and 180 sq ft elements together as a pair.
Waterco part numbers are printed on the element end cap. Note that the Opal XL 270 uses both the 90 sq ft and 180 sq ft elements at the same time (joined with the factory coupler) — replace them as a pair.
Both. The XL 270 stacks the 90 sq ft element (701041 / XLS-937) and the 180 sq ft element (701038 / XLS-938) joined by the factory coupler. Replace the two together to restore the full 270 sq ft of media.
Check the Waterco part number printed on the end cap — 701041 (90 sq ft), 701038 (180 sq ft), or 701040 (C225) — or measure the element length: the 180 sq ft element is roughly twice the length of the 90.
