The XLS-831 is a replacement cartridge for the Sundance Double End 120 (models before 2006 with core plug) and Sundance 120/125 double-end filter housing using 6540-488. It replaces Sundance 6540-488, along with aftermarket Pleatco PSD125-2000, Unicel C-8326 / C-8326RA and Filbur FC-2780 / FC-2780M.
Each cartridge is 8 7/16" in diameter and 19" long (end caps: 1 1/2" Slip Fit on top, 2 1/2" Open w/ Bevel Edge on the bottom), and carries 125 sq ft of filter media.

- End caps — whether each end is open or closed, and the size of any opening.
A variance of ⅛" is normal. Anything larger usually means a different housing model — check the number printed on your old cartridge against the compatible parts list before ordering.

How do I check that this cartridge fits?
Find the part number printed on your old cartridge in the Compatibility tab. If you cannot read it, measure the outside diameter and the length, check both end caps, and compare them with the Specifications tab. A difference of about 1/8 inch is normal; more than that usually means a different filter model. Matching measurements alone do not prove a fit: some of our cartridges share a size and differ in filtration area or end caps.

How often should I replace my filter cartridge?
Most pool and spa cartridges last one to two seasons, depending on how much the water is used and its chemistry. Rinse the cartridge monthly during heavy use, and replace it when cleaning no longer brings the flow back or the pleats show wear.
